Stick to Your Work Outs for Elders & Seniors in Pico Rivera

Eating healthy and working out are the most important elements to maintaining a healthy lifestyle all around from mentally, physically, and even spiritually. It is important that we monitor what we eat and drink, as well as do on our downtime when not in school or work. Say, for example, sitting on the couch and watching TV all day is sometimes much needed–just not every day.

As we get older too, and due to different injuries, diseases, and illnesses, we are often limited to a majority of work outs in order to prevent further damage to the physical and chronic state. Our senior patients here at A-1 Home Care are often finding different ways to participate and maintain a frequent work out. Some favorable and common work outs that we see as a trend with our patients are walking, stretching, yoga, and even golf. It all depends on what is best with our clients; often, our caregivers consult with a patient’s doctor to see what is the best work out for them.

Although, it is tough to keep up with a work out routine; however, our caregivers have been fortunate to find the best ways to assist their senior patient(s) with sticking to their work outs. They are (Active, 2017):

  • Keeping it simple by doing something that is enjoyable for the patient (as well as our caregivers, if you prefer companion services as well). We want our patients to have fun and to never feel obligated to do something that they do not want to.
  • Taking rest/days off because our bodies do need a break every now and then; and, usually, this includes the lounging around and watching TV part for most people.
  • Encouraging our seniors by many things, whether that is participating in work outs with them or with words to keep going and to never give up.

To speak with our agency, you can reach us at our Pico Rivera office or our Santa Fe Springs headquarters 562-929-8400 / 310-657-8780 to discuss further of our friendly and trust building services.

Elder Law Month in Pico Rivera

A-1 Home Care - Care Plan

May has been officially designated as Elder Law Month by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) in order to increase awareness for the need for seniors and others facing end of life to have planning in place for when they pass. For those of you who may not know, Elder law is the area of law that specifically addresses issues such as:

  • Income, estate and gift tax matters & working with financial planners when appropriate
  • Planning for the spouse (including long-term care and asset protection)
  • Will and Trust planning
  • Planning to avoid probate proceedings
  • Long-term care planning

Because the family is already operating at such a high stress level due to concerns of well-being for their loved one, it can be overwhelming to search for legal documents that may or may not have been completed prior to this moment. In many crisis situations, the person requiring care cannot participate any further in decision making, making it even more difficult for the family.

We understand that during this emotionally taxing time, one would like to feel secure about legal issues in order to enjoy the final days spent with your elderly loved one. If you or the residents of Pico Rivera have concerns about care planning and/or any of the Elder Law issues outlined above, A-1 Home Care can assist you as we are the leading non-medical Home Care agency in Los Angeles and Orange Counties with over 25 years of experience in providing quality, affordable Home Care service for the communities of Pico Rivera, Whittier, Norwalk, Downey, Santa Fe Springs, San Gabriel, Rosemead, Montebello and more.
